UPDATE: RACING INDUSTRY

Black Horse Naturals is a family owned business rooted in racing industry experience. Steve brings agricultural expertise and agronomy, whilst my background is National Sales and Marketing at two leading equine feed companies, together we deliver professional, nutritionist developed, veterinarian recommended feeds that support digestive health, performance and wellness.

We produce our flagship product, Harmony and Harmony Plus along with our race and performance horse dedicated product - Gut Align.

Our in-house quality assurance procedures mean regular testing of both raw materials and finished products.

Our carefully formulated feeds are produced in two seperate, equine dedicated mills to maximise safety, quality, consistency, and traceability.

As a transparent company, we feel the need to provide an important regulatory update on Hemp for the racing industry and advise accordingly.

Recent changes in the racing industry confirm that Hemp is classed as a prohibited substance and as such, should not be fed or stored on premises, to both Raceday and in Out-Of-Competition testing.

Hemp, including feeds, supplements and oils contain cannabinoids.

Cannabinoids are a banned substance under racing rules.

Our understanding is that Hemp Meal is currently not listed as a banned substance under FEI rules, however, as with any feed or nutritional supplement, we recommend contacting your governing body before use to ensure full compliance with current rules and regulations.

Harmony and Harmony Plus are both Hemp Based feeds.

To ensure compliance with Racing of both codes, Gut Align should be the only Black Horse Naturals product to be fed.

Gut Align is a Full Fat Soy and Lupin blend with additional modes of action for gastrointestinal and digestive health and is competition safe and non swabbable.

Additionally, our products provide clear labelling, along with our website news updates, warning of use of hemp products in the racing industry and recommendations.

Black Horse Naturals has a high commitment to honesty and integrity and whilst we certainly feel that Harmony and Harmony Plus along with our fellow producers of Hemp based products have a nutritional place within the equine feed and supplement market, particularly for pleasure horses and ponies we take pride in staying compliant with governing bodies, and will keep customers updated as information evolves.
